Gamma Scope — Privacy Policy

Gamma Scope (“the Extension”) is a browser extension that displays gamma exposure and related market metrics when users hover over stock tickers on publicly accessible websites. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect your information when you use the Extension.

This policy applies only to the Gamma Scope extension and its associated API endpoint at:

https://stocks.tradingvolatility.net/ext/gex

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Anonymous Usage

When the Extension requests data from our /ext/gex API, we collect:

  • Ticker symbol requested
  • Timestamp of request
  • An anonymized usage ID (derived from IP address solely for rate limiting)

We do not store IP addresses long-term. We do not store page content or URLs of the websites you visit.

1.2 Optional User Account Login

If you choose to sign in using your Trading Volatility account, we collect:

  • Your account identifier (email or internal user ID)
  • Your subscription tier (Free or Paid)
  • A temporary JWT token stored locally in the browser extension

This information is used solely to:

  • Verify your plan level
  • Provide higher rate limits to paid users
  • Enable authenticated access to API resources

We do not collect passwords. We do not track your browsing history. We do not store or inspect the pages you visit.

1.3 Local Extension Storage

The extension stores a single local value:

  • tv_jwt — a JWT used for authenticated API requests

This token is stored locally and is never transmitted to any third-party domains. It is sent only to: https://stocks.tradingvolatility.net/ext/gex

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

Gamma Scope does not collect or store:

  • Browsing history
  • Page contents
  • Financial or trading data
  • Keystrokes or form data
  • User cookies from any websites
  • Device identifiers outside those provided by Chrome extensions

We never sell, share, or rent user data.

3. How We Use the Information

  • To provide GEX data — returning gamma exposure, flip levels, and volatility metrics.
  • To manage rate limits — anonymous and authenticated users have hourly and daily quota caps.
  • For authentication — JWT tokens verify plan level (Free or Paid).

We do not use this information for advertising, user profiling, analytics, or marketing.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share user information with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or any third parties. Data is exchanged exclusively between your browser and our API on stocks.tradingvolatility.net.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures, including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all API communication
  • Digitally signed JWTs
  • Rate-limit counters that auto-expire and are not stored long-term

6. Children’s Privacy

Gamma Scope is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will always be available on this page.
